The SAFE Act on 420
It’s déjà vu, all over again. For the fourth time, the US House of Representatives has passed the Secure and Fair Enforcement, or SAFE, Act. The act will shield credit unions and banks from the federal rules that prevent CRB owners from opening accounts today at many credit unions and banks.
Aery Group is, however, one of a special group of credit unions that specializes in the kind of banking that CRB owners can rely on today. We offer the banking services CRB entrepreneurs need, such as debit cards, cash handling, checking accounts, and more. Entrepreneurs don’t need to wait for federal legislation before coming to Aery to open an account.
Passing the bill on April 20 is a symbolic gesture. The bill has been passed several times before in the House, but it has never been presented for a vote in the US Senate.
Today, as cannabis businesses legally operate in 36 states and the District of Columbia, having safe, secure, and compliant banking options is a priority. At Aery, we’ve specialized in this kind of banking for years.
New Mexico has passed legislation to legalize adult-use recreational cannabis. At Aery Group, New Mexico’s CRBs have the option of opening an account with the oldest credit union in the state – US Eagle - with access to specialized banking services designed specifically for CRBs today.
