Volunteer Opportunities

The Eagle needs you

Helping to build a stronger, more hopeful New Mexico is our driving purpose. By creating volunteer opportunities, U.S. Eagle is opening the doors for our younger community to start realizing their professional dreams and discovering what they want to do early on. Not only do those who participate in our programs learn more about their local business community, but we also learn how to better serve our members.

We welcome anyone who has an interest in helping their community and their credit union.  We seek volunteers to serve on the following committees:

ALCO Committee:  A supervisory group that coordinates the management of assets and liabilities with a goal of earning adequate returns.

CECL Committee:  A committee, whose job it is to guide the institution through the process of transition to estimating their allowance in compliance with the new Current Expected Credit Losses accounting standard.

Election Committee:  The election committee is responsible for organizing elections. Members are usually appointed and consist of an election administrator as well as other officers who help supervise election along the way. The election committee is also responsible for delivering the result of the election to the board, their members and their electorate.

Finance Committee:  The finance committee is primarily to provide financial oversight for the organization. Typical task areas include budgeting and financial planning, financial reporting, and the creation and monitoring of internal controls and accountability policies.

Governance Committee:  The governance committee is responsible for how the board governs. This makes the governance committee the most appropriate group to make recommendations to the board about the minimum qualifications of director candidates and the process for recruiting board directors.

Junior Board of Directors: The Junior Board of Directors (JBOD) is a group of local youth ages 16 – 22 interested in leadership, community outreach, and financial literacy. Click here to learn more.

Merger and Acquisition Committee: The Merger and Acquisition Committee of US Eagle is appointed by the Board to review and assess potential mergers and acquisitions consistent with the most current version of the US Eagle Strategic Plan.

Policy/Bylaws Committee:  A committee responsible for all issues and questions related to the rules set forth by the laws of the state and policies of the company.

Succession Committee:  The Committee prepares a diverse ballot of members and develops members to take part in organizational leadership roles.

Supervisory Committee: Help ensure the safety and soundness of U.S. Eagle through auditing. Evaluate processes and procedures, and report your results to our Board of Directors. Help safeguard our members’ assets. The Supervisory Committee term is for one year and meetings are held once a month.

Volunteer Development Committee:   Meet once a month with other U.S. Eagle members and discuss ways for us to enrich our community. You will be tasked with ensuring we have a pool of volunteers for different U.S. Eagle committees, and helping develop our volunteers as well as member education. The Volunteer Development Committee term is for one year.
