Credit Report

If you’re feeling anxious about your financial health during these uncertain times, you’re not alone. The good news? It’s now easier than ever to check your credit report more often. That's because everyone is eligible to receive free weekly credit reports from the three national credit reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian, and Transunion.

Here are some answers to some credit report Frequently Asked Questions we’ve come across:

How do I check my credit report for free every week?

The three credit (reporting agencies?) reported the news on April 20th. Report access is available starting immediately through Annualcreditreport.com, the site established for this purpose by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

How long will free weekly credit report checks be offered?

The free weekly reports on Annualcreditreport.com will continue for a year, until April 20, 2021.

Will checking my credit more often hurt my score?

Note: checking more often doesn't hurt your credit. When you check your report yourself, it's not considered a hard inquiry like a lender might make.

Will the free weekly reports also contain my credit score?

No. You will only have access to the report itself, which lists all open accounts, inquiries from credit applications, payment history, and any outstanding payments in collections. However, your credit union does offer you a quarterly credit report and score through Perks Checking. You’ll also have access to credit monitoring, identity monitoring, identity restoration & payment fraud resolution and a $10,000 personal identity theft benefit for added peace of mind.
