Strength in Numbers

US Eagle Blog May 18, 2023

Given the flurry of recent media coverage regarding several national bank closures, your US Eagle Board and Management is taking this opportunity to remind and assure you of US Eagle’s tremendously safe, sound, and excellent financial condition.

We are New Mexico’s longest-standing credit union, and since 1935, US Eagle has maintained a PERFECT record of positive earnings (that’s 88 years in a row). We also hold a 5-Star rating for financial strength from Bauer Financial. And, unlike banks, credit unions are owned by their members. We do not have shareholders to answer to or profits to share with them, and everything we do is in the best interest of you, our member-owners.

Deposits at US Eagle are insured by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA), a U.S. government agency. All membership accounts are insured for up to $250,000 per individual depositor. You can calculate insurance coverage of all types of share accounts offered by a federally insured credit union at MyCreditUnion.gov. No one’s ever lost a penny in credit unions.

Additionally, we structure our financials, as well as investments, within conservative risk policies to ensure we maintain this strong position to serve our members through all economic cycles. Here are some examples:

  • US Eagle holds capital in excess of regulatory requirements.
  • Our deposit base is stable and diverse, consisting primarily of traditional retail and commercial deposits. Our loan portfolio is equally diverse and not overly concentrated in any type of loan.
  • We maintain a strong liquidity profile and have the ability to meet all deposit requests. In addition, we have access to several additional sources of liquidity, should the need arise.

We are honored to be your financial institution of choice and appreciate your trust in us. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us at (505) 342-8888.
